I love the idea of mimosas. A little bit of sweetness from fresh orange juice combined with something bubbly? Yessss…
My taste buds are totally into this, but somehow my brain just can’t seem to justify drinking alcohol at 10 am. Hmmm.
A few weeks ago I was at brunch with friends and someone ordered a “virgin mimosa” (aka orange juice) and it really got me thinking… if orange juice is usually combined with champagne, why can’t it be combined with sparkling water for a non-alcoholic version?
Of course, I had to test this out and what I discovered is that this is a perfect combination that gets even better when you add clementines and fresh slices of ginger for a little spicy kick. Yum! This is the perfect way to enjoy brunch and is another fabulous mocktail to add into your repertoire.
I kept this recipe lower in sugar by using less juice, but if you want a sweeter version, you can use a 1:1 ratio of juice to sparkling water. If you want more of a spicy kick from the ginger, add the ginger slices to the orange juice ahead of time to give more time for the flavors to absorb. And, to add a bit more flair, I love garnishing this with a fresh sprig of rosemary.
What’s your favorite brunch mocktail?
