I’ve lived in Seattle for ten years now and I’ve lived my entire life in the state of Washington. As a native Pacific Northwesterner, I’m used to cold weather. I don’t mind the drizzle of rain and I actually crave the coolness of fall and winter.
But, when I have the chance to jump ship and take a vacation to somewhere warm in December? Ooh, I’m gonna take it.
Last year around this time I decided to take myself on a cruise with Matchbox Twenty to the Bahamas (I know it’s dorky, but it was amazing) and this year I’m lucky to be spending the holidays in Palm Springs. This Seattleite is definitely looking forward to sunshine, palm trees, and listening to Christmas music by a pool.
Until then, I’ll be bundled up in multiple layers, doing plenty of hot yoga just to stay warm, and drinking this non-alcoholic cranberry and pear spritzer.
When it comes down to it, this spritzer has simple ingredients: kombucha, fresh cranberries, sliced pear, and a rosemary sprig to add a festive flavor. I love using kombucha as a base for drinks because it’s a great way to get more probiotics into my diet instead of alcohol and sugar (which is usually what most drinks are made of this time of year). Feel free to use any kombucha of your choice, or if you’re not a kombucha fan, substitute with sparkling water sweetened with a little fresh cranberry juice instead.
- 32 oz kombucha of choice (I used GT's raw gingerade kombucha)
- 1 cup cranberries (halved if desired)
- 1 pear, sliced
- 4 fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish, optional)
- Divide kombucha amongst 4 glasses. Add cranberries and pear and garnish with rosemary.
