Did you ever watch Sex and The City? I haven’t even thought about that show since my first year of college, but for some reason lately I’ve become obsessed with watching old episodes. I even finished off both the movies (which I don’t necessarily recommend, especially the second one).
The funny thing is that I couldn’t have less in common with those ladies. Sure, I live in a big city (Seattle), but I don’t wear Manolo Blahniks, spend my evenings reading Vogue, or drink cosmopolitans. My shoes most often come from The Walking Company, I spend my evenings reading food blogs, and I drink mocktails. (Okay, and a burbon on the rocks on occasion.) I’m much closer to a character out of Portlandia than Sex and The City.
Nevertheless, watching it makes me want to run out and buy the cutest pair of high heels possible and go to happy hour with my friends. But, since drinks can’t happen every night, I had to come up with a (healthier) substitute… Margarita body scrub, anyone?
This body scrub will make you feel papered, as well as soft and smooth all over. I love the light scent of lime juice and when mixed with the salt, it becomes the essence of summer. You have to try it.
This scrub only takes three ingredients, which I’m pretty sure you already have in your pantry right now. Use this before a day at the beach, before shaving (not after as the lime juice might sting!), or make a batch for DIY pedicures at your next girls’ night. Who needs cosmopolitans when you have margarita body scrub and a calm-marita?
- ⅔ cup coarse sea salt
- juice and zest from 1 lime
- ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
- Mix ingredients together.
- Store any leftovers in a glass container in the fridge and use within 2 weeks.
