Let’s be honest… there’s nothing that makes you feel older than when you start noticing your skin changing. I’m all about enjoying my life and embracing my age, but at the same time I still want to look my best. If you’ve been battling dry skin or are looking to help your skin stay in the best shape possible – I have a solution that just might help! 😉
When I was growing up I always heard from my mom and her friends how important skincare is. I was an avid fan of beauty products from a young age and it wasn’t long before I became an expert at slathering things on my skin. Then, of course, I grew up and started to question the ingredients in those products.
Nowadays, I’m still weary of drugstore brands so I prefer to create my own beauty solutions if possible and that’s exactly how this DIY Anti-Aging Facial Oil came to be! With a few simple ingredients, it’s incredibly easy to make a rich, moisturizing oil that hydrates and nourishes dry skin. Let’s get to it!
First, we need a few key ingredients. Here are the oils I use in my blend:
Rosehip is one of my favorite anti-aging oils because it’s full of vitamins A, C, and E that moisturize the skin and help to reduce fine lines.
Jojoba oil is a popular oil that is used often in homemade beauty products because it’s a light oil, but is still very moisturizing as a result of its fatty acids and Vitamin E. Jojoba can be used for acne-prone, oily, or combination skin in addition to dry skin.
Argan oil is a fabulous all-around oil for beauty purposes as it can be used on the skin and hair. It’s great in this blend because it contains vitamins A and E and helps to reduce fine lines around the eyes.
Carrot seed oil is very healing and helps reduce fine lines. It’s a very powerful oil and you only need a few drops to get the effects. Note: Many carrot seed oils are sold diluted with a carrier oil, but if you purchase pure carrot seed oil, do not use directly on your skin without first mixing it with a carrier oil as it can irritate the skin and damage the skin if you are exposed to sunlight. Since this blend contains jojoba as a carrier oil, it can be used safely.
Lavender is completely optional in this blend, but since I put this oil on at night before bed, I love the calming scent of the lavender. You can choose to leave the lavender out or substitute with a different essential oil (rose also works great) if you choose.
You’ll also want to make sure you have a glass dropper bottle to store the oil in.
And that’s it! One you get your oils, you’ll add the proper amounts to a glass bottle and you’re ready to go! Hello gorgeous!
