When I was in my early twenties, “date night” meant hanging out with my friends until the wee hours of the morning. Then, in my mid-twenties, “date night” became the classic combo of dinner and a movie. And, in my late twenties, “date night” became a way of getting chores done with my significant other. (Saturday “date night” at Ikea anyone?)
But, now, being married and in my thirties? “Date night” means “it’s Friday and there’s no way I’m leaving this couch and don’t even ask me what’s for dinner because I really don’t want to think about it right now.”
Can you relate? 😉
Since myself and my significant other both have demanding jobs, awhile back we fell into a bad habit of takeout on Friday nights. It wasn’t pretty and my body was not happy with me. We began searching for other options that would take the pressure of weekend meal planning off of me, while also still giving us healthy options. This is where my friends at Sun Basket come in.
Some of you are probably familiar with Sun Basket’s meals since I’ve talked about them before, but in case you’re not, here’s the scoop: Sun Basket is a healthy meal kit service that delivers sustainably-sourced organic ingredients and easy, delicious recipes for cooking at home. I love their healthy options and that you can choose from paleo, gluten-free, and vegetarian meals! Plus, they even have breakfast!
Their meals have seriously changed my relationship and the entire concept of “date night.” Instead of me feeling burned out and doing all the cooking, on weeks when get our Sun Basket, my significant other prepares our meals.
Nowadays, this is my perfect “date night”: I head out to yoga class and come home to a delicious, healthy, and home-cooked meal that I did not have to prepare or worry about in any way. That, in my book, is true romance!
Plus, how much more delicious does this look than takeout? 🙂
